The success of Stratus is the result of the effort and dedication of our staff. Stratus has assembled a team of highly skilled and experienced individuals that share a commitment to client service and professional integrity. Our staff of includes Professional Geologists, Professional Engineers, Registered Environmental Assessors, hydro-geologists, biologists, chemists, and environmental scientists. Professional staff experience ranges from 4 to more than 30 years assessing and remediating environmental impacts.
Mr. Johnson’s 32 years of experience has included soil and hydrogeologic investigations under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Toxic Pits Cleanup Act; and Leaking Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) regulations.
Jay Johnson
Owner/Principal Geologist
Robert Kull’s 25 years of experience in environmental engineering are primarily in hazardous waste assessment, investigation, and remediation. His experience encompasses a broad range of projects for public, private, industrial, and government clients, including field investigations, feasibility studies, remedial design and construction, and operation and maintenance activities for soil and groundwater remediation systems.

Mr. Hayes is a Geologist with over twenty years of professional experience. Areas of expertise include: management of soil and groundwater assessment and remediation projects, management of water quality monitoring and sampling, regulatory compliance, and design and implementation of soil and groundwater pilot studies.

Mr. Kowtha has over 25 years of professional experience in the environmental industry. He has vast experience in the managing and directing of environmental projects for major private and public sector clients. His particular expertise is in developing practical and economical remedial solutions to soil and groundwater contamination.
Gowri Kowtha
Owner/Principal Engineerf
Ms. Pickett’s 11 years of experience includes investigating environmental impact from gasoline and diesel fuels at retail sites throughout southern California. Ms. Pickett has been instrumental in managing the groundwater monitoring program including permitting, health and safety requirements, scheduling contractors, implementing fieldwork, interpretation of analytical data, and final report preparation and submittal.

PROJECT GEOLOGIST/HEALTH & SAFETY ADVISOR
Scott Bittinger is a professional geologist with more than 23 years of experience as a project manager. He has provided management and technical oversight on more than 100 projects with subsurface contaminants (petroleum hydrocarbons and solvents). Mr. Bittinger provides oversight for drilling activities using hollow stem auger, air rotary casing hammer, mud rotary coring, direct push, sonic coring, and cone penetrometer methods for both environmental and geotechnical investigations.

Dominic Gillespie
Drafter/Env. Scientist
Dominick Gillespie has 9 years’ experience as a draftsperson and 3 years’ as an environmental technician and serves as the AutoCAD Operator and field technician for work performed by Stratus. Mr. Gillespie assists the environmental team in the field with the collection of surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, and other media samples for laboratory analysis. In addition, Mr. Gillespie is responsible for preparing AutoCAD figures and exhibits in support of all technical documents
Mr. Gutierrez has embarked upon his career in environmental engineering with Stratus. His responsibilities include compiling data, data analysis and report preparation, and permitting with local air and water districts. He is proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. He is an Engineer-in-Training and a Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner (QISP).
Cory Guiterrez
EIT/QISP, Staff Engineer
Mr. Van Wagner has worked on Tesoro/BP/ARCO sites for approximately 10 years and has a wide variety of experience in the environmental including project management of retail underground storage tank (UST) and refinery lifecycle phases (including assessment, characterization, feasibility studies, site conceptualization, monitoring, remediation, and regulatory closure) at more than 400 sites impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons.

Mr. Kalina is a Geologist with sixteen years of experience. He has the experience and capability to manage field investigation activities from start to finish, including permitting, health and safety plan preparation, scheduling contractors and implementing fieldwork, and interpretation of analytical data and final report preparation.
